## Overview
[Linux Mint](https://www.linuxmint.com/) is a free and open-source Linux distribution that is based on **Ubuntu** or **Debian**. It is designed to be a user-friendly and versatile operating system that is especially suitable for individuals new to Linux, as well as experienced users who want a reliable, easy-to-use desktop environment.
I use it, and am extremely happy with it. Here are some of the apps/configs I use regularly on it:
- Firefox w/ containers: Ref [[Quickstart Guide to FireFox Containers]]
- Brave: Nice browser based on the same standards as Chrome, which can be helpful because some sites require it (e.g. Sage Intacct and other financial platforms)
- UBlock Origin: Ref [[UBlock Origin Filters]]
- [SQLite DB Browser](https://sqlitebrowser.org/): Simple and effective browser for SQLite files (which I use a lot for sake of simplicty)
- [DBeaver](https://dbeaver.io/): Simple and effective DB browser and manager
- [VSCodium](https://vscodium.com/): Telemetry free alternative to VSCode
- [JellyFin](https://jellyfin.org/) - JellyFin is a media server. I prefer using it to Celluliod and VLC because I like that other devices on my network can also use it to listen to, and download, media.
- [ClamAV](https://www.clamav.net/): Antivirus
- [KeePassXC](https://keepassxc.org/): Password manager
- [ArchiveBox](https://archivebox.io). Archive solution for local hosted archives. For blogs, documentation, and things like this. I use ArchiveBox instead of bookmarking pages.
- [Newsboat](https://newsboat.org/): RSS reader
- [W3M](https://w3m.sourceforge.net/): Command line web browser
- [LocalSend](https://localsend.org/): local fire share service
